Who they are
TheCuarteto
Palermo is a band that born in 2003 on the initiative of Maurizio Maiorana, professional actor and musician, since 1981 (see his C.V.). The Quartetto is formed apart from Maurizio Maiorana, who is the voice, from Tobia Vaccaro (guitar and violin), Mimmo La Mantia (guitar), in the past they both were guitarists for Rosa Balistreri and at the moment they are among the more interesting guitarists of the jazz scene, and from the Dutchman double bass player Marko Bonarius (double bass), who have moved to Sicily for a few years...
The quartetto is organic also to the performance TANGUERA, with the choreographies of Maura Laudicina and the aSSud school pupils’ participation and the collaboration of the best dancer of tango of Catania and Messina.
The band livens up the most important tango evening in Palermo.
They have performed during the milonghe at I CANDELAI, AGRICANTUS, PALAZZO PANTELLERIA; they participated as invited band to the third and forth editions of the SICILIA TANGO FESTIVAL and also to the final milonga of the stage with PABLO VERON (April 2004), SANDRA MESSINA (September 2003) and PABLO VILLARAZA and DANA FRIGOLI (December 2005). A short time ago their first CD - VOLVERhas been issued. In February 2006 they will be on tour in Switzerland, in some of its most important concert hall (MOODS, Muhle Hunziken and Radio and Television in Biel). They have performed in the Festival MADAMADORE' in Palermo on March 1 (organized by PRO EVENTI).
